We are the largest independent book in the state of Indiana, known for our warm customer service; strong selection of local authors; talks and signings with local and national/international authors; local artisan goods; and excellent cafe with coffee, wine, and treats sourced by local vendors. Established in 2021. Morgenstern’s has a long and illustrious history in Bloomington. From 1990-1996, Morgenstern’s — named after founder Rick Morgenstern — was a beloved bookstore in the community, until the chains moved in. Morgenstern never gave up on his dream to bring the bookstore back. In July 2021, with backing from a team of local investors and tremendous enthusiasm from the community, the bookstore opened it’s doors again, just a few blocks from the original location, this time with a full-fledged café.
