Established in 1948. 1948 – Donald Papke founded the Country Cottage Restaurant by converting a section of his home into an ice cream and soda fountain. He featured homemade ice cream and root beer. Donald also originated the “Pig’s Ice-cream Dinner” which was served on wax paper in a wooden trough and was close to impossible to finish. 1963 – 1988 the Country Cottage passed through three owners, 1963-Ernest “Buzz” Davis, 1984 – Harold McKee and 1988- Frank & Linda Kloch. 1995 – The Ferlito family headed by Jim Ferlito Jr., purchased the Cottage Restaurant. Jim improved quality by using fresh ingredients when possible and high quality foods. Soups, sauces, chili and crepes were homemade. The restaurant sales exploded and the kitchen expanded. In November 1997, Jim Ferlito Jr. of 40 years, passed away suddenly leaving a loving wife and four beautiful children. Jim Ferlito Sr. took over the operations and with the help of a key employee; Laurie Brothers helped continue the tradition of the Coun
