The studio was opened by Julia McConahay in August of 2013. Julia is an accomplished stylist who left a conventional salon environment in 2010 due to the development of intense chemical allergies within that setting. She thought she wouldn’t be able to do hair anymore because of the industry standards that incorporate heavily chemical-laden products. Her desire for a non-chemical workplace and natural tendency to connect with people and encourage them to become the best version of themselves has fueled the development of this sanctuary. Since it opened, Julia has helped several other health and wellness practitioners to get started in their own journeys as professionals. The Chrysalis community has grown through both personal referrals and individuals who were interested in finding a better way to care for themselves…right along with the desire for a flattering, fashion-forward, low-maintenance haircut.
